I'm peeking back in today to offer up a fun Giveaway from DaySpring. I hope you'll enter and share the opportunity with your friends.
Sitting there in the darkened auditorium I’m restless–anxious for her number. She’s practiced for months and finally, today’s the day–her first dance recital. I ask her afterwards, on the way home if she was scared and she, looking out the window watching the farms and fields pass by, simply says, “I wasn’t scared at all”.
That’s my girl. Mostly fearless–except when it comes to spiders or centipedes.
She danced her heart out for a whopping two minutes and thirty-eight seconds and it didn’t even phase her that there were hundreds of people sitting just over the edge of the stage. She did what she went there to do–and I’d sat there, hoping for the best, unsure of what exactly to expect.
This is my whole life. waiting on God, watching to see what His appearance will look like. I’m an eternal optimist so hope comes somewhat easy to me. I am pretty good at sitting back and hoping for the best.
The alternative is just ugly.
What would a life of expecting the worst be like? A hopeless life? I can’t bare to think of it.
It’s not that I’m so good at it, or that I live such a charmed life, hope comes from Christ. He lives in me and therefore I have hope because I have Him.
For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. Romans 8:24-25
We’re called to live life hopefully, unafraid, expectant–
We can trust God’s goodness because He sent hope to earth in the form of his only beloved Son.
Whether we dance on the stage or wait in the audience we can do it with hope for the best possible outcome, because we trust that all things work for the good for those who love the Lord.
So love Him fiercely. Wait expectantly, trust that God knows your need and will meet it with the fullest measure of His grace and love because “He’s in the habit of giving it”.
