It happened so quickly, I could have missed in the chaos of kids and kitchen timers beeping– but I didn’t.
Not this time. He made His presence known.
Bending to slide the cookies into the hot oven, He showed up for a split second. Maybe less than a second, He revealed Himself in the tiniest, strangest way.
Only a month or so ago, my chest heaved and burned with the words words of Isaiah 62:5. Overwhelmed by the refining fires and the state of my mishapen heart those words pricked, rather than comforted.
And here, this wild day of baking cookies and trying to school children, He shows himself long enough for me to feel His smile at me. How do you describe the feeling of an invisible smile? Warm. Gentle. Sudden joy. It sounds absurd, but yet the moment was so real. His presence so strongly felt, as a puff of air, or a flash of light that comes and passes in an instant. I don’t know how to describe it other than that–I know that’s what it was–He smiled at me.
It’s just over month out from one of the most difficult seasons I’ve endured spiritually, and I’ve made peace with Him in so many ways, and this invisible smile, this split-second gift enforces the words that just weeks ago made me want to hide in a cave, underground–in the dark.
The Lord delights in you–
as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you. Isaiah 62:5
He delights in YOU.
Isn’t that amazing?
He’s writing a different story with me these days.
Lets celebrate!
Last month I hosted my first ever link-up. You all humbled me with your willingness to participate. I had several people ask me if I’d do it monthly,
So, here it is.
Encore post link-ups will happen the first of every month and all you need to do is:
- link up your favorite post from the previous month
- share some encouragement for the person (ot two!) who links up before you.
- Add the button to your post
Easy enough, right?
What story is He writing in your life right now? I’d love to hear about it!
Let’s have some fun- show me what you’ve got!
