I flip the pages over on the old wall calendar in the kitchen. I knew it was the last page but for some reason, I turned it, only to see bare wall behind–space with potential. Another year has ended. Looking back at where I’ve been this past year, all of the places God has taken me, I cant help but see the overwhelming stack of treasures He’s passed on to me.
Granted, they haven’t all come perfectly beautiful and shiny, no– many of the best gifts of this year were born out of tremendous struggle and pain. My heart broke a bit last spring as God turned me inside out and scraped out the muck of years that had collected in my heart. The result of that breaking and scraping–that season spent on my face, is now written out, 15,158 words, a bit of blood let out–out of obedience, out of trust–in hopes that some of you might read it and find encouragement, and ultimately, a deeper connection to Christ.
This year has brought with it tremendous change, personal spiritual growth, new friendships forged, new communities discovered, some other communities left behind. God continues to humble me and teach me about what it is to serve, and oh–how much I still have to learn.
February 1st, my ebook will release. Let me just say that I did not write this book for any reason, other than pure obedience and faith. The words penned within it’s pages came out of intense struggle, and a sort of relentless badgering of spirit. They kept me up at night. They woke me earlier than I would have liked. They caused tears and trembling, and yet, writing this small book was not optional–I simply had to do it.
I want you to have it.
“Whether you observe lent regularly, or are completely unfamiliar with it (as I was!), Kris’ book is for every believer. She addresses the issues of suffering and sanctification with grace and elegance, painting vivid word pictures for her readers.” ~Rachel O’Neil
Holey, Wholly, Holy opened my eyes to the beauty and the brokenness of Lent. Kris paints a stirring picture of what the Lenten season can mean for the follower of Christ. But it’s not just about a particular time of year—it’s about self-examination and being willing to get honest with God in a way that will get us on our faces before Him.~Gretchen Louise Acheson
