Sitting In Judgment

It’s Holy week, and as I think on the crucifixion, on the sacrifice of Jesus, I am reminded through stories like this one that I share today, of just who I am, and who Jesus really is. Humbling–that’s the only word for it. His love levels me.

.  Sitting there, in the comfort of my private family room, watching Lance Armstrong confess his sins on public television, the edges of my mouth tightened in disgust.

God help me, that was my first reaction–not pity, not sorrow for him, but disgust at the size of his sin, (as if there is such a thing as a lesser sin).

That was the first stone I threw. … I’m sharing a bit of ugly-truth over at BibleDude’s Living The Story column today, Read the rest over there.

Weekend Wanderings

Psalm 51_2 Wash Me Clean

Some Good Reads around the Web:

“It’s really not as much about where you are or what you do, as it is about harnessing your heart and mind around the One chasing you with abandon all week” My friend Shelly is helping me discover what gift the Sabbath can be. Join us.

And this? This right here: “And because I know Who saved me, I know — for sure — that evangelical is not a dirty word, and I want to take it back.
The word doesn’t belong to the critics and the mockers; it belongs to the Good News People.”
Don’t miss this one, friends.

“My heart leapt at the generosity that comes easily to my kids and I thought of my word for the year. And how this unexpected moment was another opportunity to choose love, the real kind.” Kristen tells a powerful story about what Love sometimes looks like.

Weekend Wanderings

angel

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.(John 1:14 NIV84)

When I saw this angel laying there, amid the filth of my kitchen floor, I was reminded of how Christ enters in–we are not required to clean before he can come. He comes right into the mess of our lives and dwells among us.
May we welcome Him, without worrying about the mess He may find.

Come now our King.

….On my hardest days I imagine my struggle to bring glory through motherhood doesn’t much compare to raising the Son of God. I wonder often how anyone born into this muck could bring any kind of light with them. But I remember, as I stand there at the sink, with my hands in the dirty water, that we can only shine because He is in us……

Join me this weekend over at Bible dude for the rest of this post–we’re talking about when the waiting feels unbearable.
